dang. all this high faluttin 'round here. all good n' all but lets get back down to earth for a minute... not just because the 1 out of 4 young African American males locked up at this moment that is on my mind; not just because this is soul stirring music that has been with me through tough times; but simply: what better selection for a monday morning?

THANK YOU!
damn....
Thanks for this. I remember almost buying this some years ago and for some reasons not. Great to finally be able to hear it.
a strange and completely random file format appears when i tried to download this. Please re-up the original link. I'm really looking forward to this. Great, great site.
huh? what kind of file format? these are mp3 just like everything else on this site?
Same thing happens to me: it is some kind of file - but NOT mp3 for me...
So I can't get it either...
Wow, I went to a show of and about Alan Lomax at Brooklyn Fireproof a couple of months ago. The music recordings were the most interesting part of that exhibition, but the context was a poor one for sitting down to listen to prison songs. I was waiting for a concert to start, with a beer in my hand, trying to entertain a girlfriend who didn't last much longer. The band was Vetiver.
Thanks very much
THANKS!!!
