pure magic I found at the library. when I checked on Amazon of course it is out of print. having returned the disc a long time ago, and not finding much information online, all I'm pretty certain is that a lot or all of this is Cuban in origin, and recorded sometime in the early 1930s.
the collection starts off nice enough, with a couple of straight dance numbers, but soon a special sound emerges, where the mood, although on the surface the same kind of easy-going atmosphere, becomes more complex... and like all great party music, a lot more is carefully molded into the music than a simple good time. I point you to track 5, "Tabou" by the Leguona Cuban Boys - what is going on here? a particular sense of melody and rhythm that I've never heard anywhere else... many gems are hidden in the rest of the album, and there is a mysterious mood which pervades through out... I wrote some stuff but deleted it, because my words are awkward, entirely insufficient, and I do not wish to impose my subjective interpretation of these tunes and this sound onto you. enjoy.

OOOOO-kay.... is that a random crazy or do I need to turn on the word verification thingie? what do you guys think?
Take i t from someone who knows: You NEED to turn on the verification I'm afraid mate. A simple check is to hover over the posters name..If it leads to some non descript website then its a spammer, whatever crap they post(sometimes it seems so convincing like they really did read your site). Also, don't bother actually visiting the sites you find in some posts as they are a lot likely to have instant virus/spyware installations on your PC.
(Not mine of course cos' I have a triple or quadruple -I forget layer of armoury between this machine's files and the www.
anyway USE THE VERIFICATION NOW!
And..
I actually dropped by to say cheers for linking, will return the same for you when i update tonight. Going to read your stuff now.
Cheers

Dear Way, thank you so much for your warm and kind words!
and so glad these old time rumba sounds are finding new ears... would be a sad thing for such enchanting moments to be lost in time... like... tears... in the rain...
:)
