tune that piano..........

here is a repost of sorts.... Cap'n Zhao mentions this way back in the archives with a link to it on the once wonderful but now non-functional site classicalconnection, so here is seminal minimalist La Monte Young's The Well-Tuned Piano, the 1988 Gramavision recording.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketLA MONTE YOUNG: At the world premiere of The Well-Tuned Piano, the live world premiere in Rome in 1974, Pandit Pran Nath was there. And he said, "You literally transformed the traditional instrument of Europe before their eyes." Somehow, by tuning the piano in just intonation, it takes it back to the lyre of Orpheus and the harp of David which had to be tuned in a much simpler way, and it brings out some of those characteristics. The piano just depends on what you do with it. It's like everything else. Remember when electronic instruments came out and the Musician's Union said, "This is going to be a problem. Musicians are going to be out of work" and so forth. They weren't really. It just became another instrument. And what you do with electronics is what's important.

Any chance of someone uploading Just Stompin', the Purple Set, or Der Zweck Dieser Serie ist Nicht Unterhaltung! (1957-1973)? Der Zweck was posted in the comments of the Just Stompin' post on ClassicalConnection, but I came a little late to the game to get it. Here's a link to comment section in question:

beyond masterful. oh to have been there in 1981. there is only one thing better, and that's the 1987 DVD, which, like this, is also OOP. I ripped it to 320 but it needs lossless to convey all the masses of data.

Will folks be re-posting the Jewelled Antler library (from rapidshare.de) and all the great stuff from the 2006/09/01 archive, like Wrapped Islands and Feldman's For Christian Wolff?

I still have my vinyl 5 LP version, but to be able to get it like this and play it all seamlessly is a joy (even if it's just an mp3)!

the re-up mission (as i'm sure some of you anticipated maybe - i'm sticking out my tongue at you), has been delayed. because I'm so fucking busy these days putting together a new series of events/parties. very excited.

but you have my word that slowly all the back shit will be put back up. I already re-upped a Paul Bley album...
