Gamelan _ Java Instrumental [NEW LINK]

Sunda refers to the aproximate western third region of the Island of Java. the Gamelan Degung, a princely music used for ceremonies in the courts, dates back to the 17th century, but has its roots in much older tradtions.

Sundanese Gamelan is characterized by a trademark sense of beautiful melody, coupled with a suble, crystaline aproach to poly-rhythmic complexity. the midrange bell tones are somewhat akin to a xylophone, with gorgeous flute melodies flying high above, and underpinned below by the awesome quakes of a majestic bass gong (same effect as the diving "hoover-bass" of jungle).

a nocturnal, other-worldly mood pervades on this disc; much more than mere "pretty" in the conventional sense, this music can go from heart-breaking to outright sinister - often at the same time. just play track 7 with the volume up and the lights dimmed...

hello goosebumps.

Yes yes, another grouping of diamonds by Mr. 12-5-15. I am waiting a few minutes for the download time to be gone, then I'm taking it! But am knowing in advance this Gamelan will be right. If it was good enough for Tina Turner (the story is going that her dancing with her hands was influencing from Gamelan dancers), it is surely good enough for me. In the between times, let me tell you that I just infused my computer with this Josef Anton Riedl and I am very very happy. This is sound talking directly to me, and complimenting my ears. Take a look at this:

And maybe when you listen to my new composition (it is in very rough state, but I was eagering to put it up), you will possibly be hearing some grime influence, and am thanking you for that. I wanted a more hectic composition this time, maybe not so much grime as smudge. You be the judge. Smudge?
Hoping you are well.
As Always,
-Heinrich

dear Mr. Heinrich,

you are ofcourse aware of the fact that if you click disconnect and re-connect to the internet, your machine will be asigned a new IP address, making the dumb rapid-share robot think that you are someone else downloading for the first time, thus by-passing the 60 minute wait time?

sincerely,

confucius

Degung - Sabilulungan (Sudanese Music of West Java) by Suara Parahiangan is quite nice.

Hi. I just found your amazing blog. I first heard the hypnotizing sounds of gamelan a few weeks ago on the radio and have been searching for more gamelan music ever since.

I would very much appreciate it if you would repost this disc, as I would very much like to hear it. I just checked cduniverse and amazon.com and it looks like it's out of print, which is very disappointing.
