visual music

In the 70's, Rainer Wehinger created a visual listening score to accompany Gyorgy Ligeti's Artikulation. I (not me, someone) scanned the pages and synchronized them with the music.

That was wonderful.

Huh, I knew that looked familiar. I went to school with Don Craig, the fellow who made that.

Don Craig? so it's not by Rainer Wehinger? I'm confused...

Hmm, actually, I could mistaken. I came into contact with it through Don - he was doing work along these lines at the time, so I assumed he had either made it himself, or at least made the video from the scanned copy. Perhaps he just stumbled on to it through the magic of the internet.

reminiscent of Cornelius Cardew's Treatise.

speaking of which, someone was saying the Hat recording of Treatise is absolute shit, and is not realized according to Cardew's instruction, in fact a complete disaster. but i love it as it is the only version i know --- anyone have any other version of it?????
