ok here is an "on brand" post: the kind of ethereal, meditative and mystical aural shenanigan somewhat typical of this blog (besides the gangsta booty bass lol)
truth is when i first heard this grandly titled recording i was somewhat underwhelmed and thought it dull (was kind of expecting an instant out of body experience). but after a few listens, and in the right mood for this kind of understated almost furniture soundstrack, its subtle beauty really seeped in.
from what i understand this is the singular work of one man on the 18 stringed Harmonic Lyre of his own design; but of course drawing upon vast sound traditions from many cultures.
"We discussed the possibility of synthesizing rock music with some of the older forms of trance music that have been developed over centuries to produce powerful, sometimes hypnotic effects on the audience. Such a synthesis would enable the older forms to escape from the mould of folk lore and provide new techniques to rock groups."
2nd outing on REBOOT.FM, in relative chill mode, at least until the afro and jamaican dancehall comes in on hour 2. starts with a couple of my new mashups of Francis Bebey, and ends with a special mix of "take it to the world".
